Trainspotting

Hey there crafty peeps! How's the weather where you are? It's gross and rainy here...a great day for scrapping! Although I didn't get any done today...but it would have been a good day for it, if I had the time...lol

Anyway, I wanted to show you a layout I made for the Page Maps  7th Anniversary giveaway sketch :)

Here's the sketch:

And here's my take on it:

These are some pretty old pictures from when we went to see Thomas the Train in Squamish. Caleb was just 6 months old and he's 4 now! Ethan had so much fun here. In these pictures we were on "Thomas" going for a train ride just waiting for the train to get started, so we were goofing around a bit :)

I used a stamp from Ali Edwards for the little sentiment above the date, and I embossed those wood veneers with some ZING! I used my Amy Tangerine stitching templates again...I really can't get enough of these, and I've got the alphabet now too! Yay! Can't wait to use those ones!

The arrows are Pink Paislee mistables that I coloured with some CTMH ink.

I added a little hidden journaling to this one too with a tag from my stash (the brand escapes me now) :)

Well, there you go! I'm off to have dinner at my mom's house :)

Have a great night!

Blessings

Use Your Stuff!

Good Morning Bloggers!! This week at the Use Your Stuff blog, we want you to dig out that tool you just had to have, yet you just don't seem to use it now that you've got it!!

I made this teeny little Project Life card holder. I don't do project life, but I love those 3x4 cards and this stores them perfectly! I used my Silhouette to cut the folder out (which is not the tool I don't use). In keeping with the Use Your Stuff theme, I only used my scraps to make this folder (except for the kraft cardstock) and I dug out a bunch of older embellishments to use on this one too!

The tool I hardly ever use is the We R Memory Keepers brad setter. It's a fabulous tool, but those of you who check out my projects all the time will know that I don't use a lot of brads at all...of course I had to have it when it came out though! lol

Well there you have it! Go out and get creative with those tools you bought and don't use! You'll feel much better about having purchased them once they get a little love!

Blessings

Future Soccer Star

Hi Bloggers! I wanted to share a layout I made the other day for the challenge over at Scrapping Everyday Miracles. They want us to make a layout about something New in our lives. I thought it would be a great opportunity to scrap about Caleb's new sport! It's the first time he's been in an organized sport and he is having so much fun! I think he's been so used to being toted along to Ethan's soccer, and lacrosse and hockey, that he's pretty excited that it's his turn to be the one to play! Ethan however, doesn't seem to do too well at just watching! lol

The twist this month is to use something that's at least a year old (the older the better) and something that's new to you in 2013. For my old stash supplies I used Crate Paper's Toy Box collection which came out in 2011. The green grid paper is also quite old, although I'm not sure who made it or how old it is :) The journaling tag is from Basic Grey's Life of the Party line, which I believe is from 2011 too. The teeny "got skills" rub on is a crate paper one too, and it's really old...I got it when I first got really into scrapbooking!

I used a few new things too...the fringe layer was cut using my new fringe scissors...I've been looking for those things EVERYWHERE! The "SOCCER" stamped title was stamped using my new Tim Holtz alphabet stamp. I've been eyeing it up for some time, but was resisting it, because I don't tend to use alphabet stamps very often. I just really liked this one! So I bought it, resolving to actually use it...and I did! Yay me!! The teeny confetti circles were made using a new border punch too.

I used the holes that it makes when it punches the border as confetti. I love that this punch is pretty versatile...and I think I will be using this one a lot more :)

As I was taking these pictures, I realized that the little bottle cap thingy was kind of covering up the "s" in "got skills" so it kinda looks like "got kills?" lol

I did move it over a little bit for this picture, but I can see I will need to move it a bit more...lol

I used a sketch from the Paper Bakery for this layout :)

Well, I should probably get going and get on with my daily chores! We're heading to our cabin for the weekend and I've got a lot of getting ready to do! Do you have any plans for the long weekend??

Use Your Stuff Challenge

Good Morning!! I hope all the mothers out there had a fabulous Mother's Day and were totally spoiled!! Mine was awesome, but a little sad, because my husband had to leave in the afternoon to go to school in Prince George for 6 weeks. He will be home on the weekends, but it's always hard when he has to go! Thankfully, this is the last time and when he comes back he will be a real live Heavy Duty Mechanic!!

Well, onto some scrappy things...Did you know that the Scrapbook Nerds have a challenge blog as well as a fabulous forum and store?! Well, they do! It's called Use Your Stuff and every week we will be challenging you to get out that hoarded product of yours and use it up (so you can have an excuse to go buy more! lol).

This week's challenge is FLOWERS, which actually can be kind of a challenge for me! If you've been following my blog, you'll know that I don't tend to use a lot of flowers, but I just got this fabulous embroidery kit by Amy Tangerine, and it has a super cute flower on it and I couldn't wait to use it! I know this hardly classifies as hoarded supplies, but the important thing is just to USE YOUR STUFF!! No matter how old or new it may be!!

I actually made this yesterday morning while my husband and boys were making me breakfast!! How sweet is that?  This one was for my grandma :)

This was my view from my scrap table...I love having my scrap space in my kitchen now!

And here is Ethan cutting up the strawberries for the chocolate brownie waffles we had :)

And here's a photo of all three boys showing off the gifts they got me! I am so totally blessed!!

I made this one last week for an NSD challenge over at Scrapbook Nerd, but I thought it was kind of fitting to share in this post too! This one was my mom's Mother's Day card :)

I'm still down one more Mother's Day card for my Mother in Law, but we aren't going to be celebrating Mother's Day until next weekend there, because she's away...so I have a little time!!

I really hope you'll join us over at Use Your Stuff this week!!  You never know, you could be featured on their blog!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I really appreciate all the lovely comments!!

Blessings,

Sarah

Chevrons from Washi Tutorial

Good Morning Bloggers! It is the wee hours of the night right now, and I just finished this layout. While I was making it, I thought why not take a few pictures of the process and give you all a mini tutorial?! Sounds like fun! So, I grabbed my trusty iPhone and snapped some shots of myself making my washi tape chevrons!

I wanted to make the chevrons on this layout out of washi tape, but I didn't have any really thin stuff that I wanted to use...sooooo I decided to cut it in half using my craft knife! It's actually pretty easy...I just lined it up diagonally (so I could cut a longer piece at a time) on my cutting mat, and I cut it down the middle. This Close to My Heart mat makes it really easy because it has the diagonal line on it, so I lined it up in the middle of that line, and just followed the line with my knife!  There ya go! Now you have two pieces of thinner washi tape to make chevrons with!

The next part is pretty easy thanks to how user friendly washi tape is. I simply lined up the tape and ripped it off at the peaks creating the chevron! I love how washi's adhesive isn't permanent because it's so forgiving in making these...if it didn't go down where I liked it, I simply lifted it off and re-positioned it! It makes for a super easy (albeit a little time consuming) embellishment on your page!

And here's the finished layout!

I've come to the conclusion lately that my boys are total goofs that just LOVE putting random things on their heads!! I bought these super cute sock monkey Easter baskets for them this year, but they preferred them as hats! lol Oh well, it makes for some fun layouts anyway!!

This layout was inspired by the special NSD sketch over at The Paper Bakery.

Thanks for stopping by!! I'm off to bed! I have to get up early and I really suck at going to sleep at a decent hour! :(

Blessings

Happy Birthday and the winner is....

It's a bittersweet day for me today, because my youngest baby turns 3!! I can't believe he's already 3!! He'll always be my baby though :)

Remember a few days ago when I had that stencil giveaway?! Well, I did the random org thingy and the number generator came up with the number 3! Which is Michelle!!! Congratulations Michelle!! Contact me with your address so I can get you your prize!! (I would put the picture of the random generator thingy up, but I'm a little impaired and can't figure it out! lol)

I made a birthday card for him at the crop this weekend. It was made from the scraps of this layout:

We were challenged over at Scrapbook Nerd's Online Crop to make a layout based on this sketch:

Then make a card with the scraps, so I made a birthday card for my baby boy!

And here is the aftermath of my crafty weekend!!

I hope you had a great weekend! I know I did! Now it's off to clean my house for a birthday party tonight!!

Blessings,

Sarah

Happy NSD!!!! May the 4Th Be With You!!!

Good Morning Bloggers! Happy National Scrapbooking Day, and May The 4th Be With You!!! I really hope you've been playing along with the Nerds over at Scrapbook Nerd, we were so excited to party we started it yesterday!!

I have a challenge for everyone who wants to play along with us at our online crop. It's a good one!

Here it is: It's a photo inspiration challenge! Easy right?! You have to use at least 3 of these 5 colours on your layout, card, or off the page project and take your inspiration from this picture!

Here's how I was inspired:

I really loved the bohemian feel to these pictures and I was inspired by the different textures and fabrics in the photo! I also wanted to show you all that even though this is a very girly picture, you're totally not limited to scrapping pictures of girls just because of that!

I used a quote from Dr. Suess as the title of my layout and I typed it out on my computer a few times, and sewed it on my page.

I wanted to use a bunch of different mediums on this page, so I brought out my Prima stencil and my Sharpie and gave it some chevrons. I stamped my new Dina Wakley grunge stamp on the top left and bottom right by the photo too. I found this piece of Webster's Pages trimmings on the floor of my craft room after I thought I was finished this layout and thought it might look good too...so I tucked it in there and I'm kinda loving it! Yay for using up stash too! That green Prima doily is a few years old and I've been wanting to use it  on something too!

I can't wait to see what inspires you!! Don't forget to link up your projects to the Nerd Gallery (also when entering your layout don't forget to note which challenge you're entering) by Monday May 6th at 11 EDT for your chance to win some goodies and a chance at the GRAND PRIZE!! For every challenge you enter you get your name in a draw to win the Big One!!  It's a $50.00 Gift Certificate to the Scrapbook Nerd Store!

So get over there and get crafty and MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU!!!

Blessings

Sarah
