Bad things...

So this afternoon I went downstairs to investigate the carpet in my scraproom (there has been a mysterious smell down there on and off for a year...it was really weird though because it was just really sporadic, so I thought the smell was just coming from this pipe coming from the wall, or just a damp basement kind of smell) anyway, yesterday it started really stinking, so I thought I'd check to see if it was leaking from the pipe and making the carpet wet. To make a long story short, I checked the carpet, and it was damp...then I decided to peel the carpet back a bit and see what was underneath, and all I saw was BLACK MOULD! So, needless to say we left and we're staying with my mom right now. We were planning on moving in October anyway, but now we've decided that we're just going to move as quickly as we can after we get back from our trip this weekend. So the next few weeks are probably going to be pretty hairy and I'm not sure that I will be able to participate for the next little while in the 50 moments challenge. I will try to do the last week of the Big Bummer End of Summer challenge on Dixie Pieces just because I've only got one week left and I'd hate to quit with one left. I figure I'll just see how it goes for now, and I will start up again when I can with whatever week we're on. So, stay tuned...I'll keep you posted on the drama that is my life! lol

Here's a quick LO I did last night. I kind of threw it together really quickly for the Dixie Pieces Challenge. This week's LO was to be about the Tastes of Summer. This pic was taken this summer of my youngest son while he was eating his first (fruit or veggie?) avacado. He didn't really like it, and he still doesn't. We had to incorporate painting on this one, which was good because I've really been into painting on my layouts these days, although I'd never painted on my picture until last night, but I quite like it.

Silhouette Gallery

Well, here it is! My Layout that was accepted in the Silhouette Gallery!
There are a lot of great projects for inspiration there!
enjoy!

Week #1 Talents and Gifts

I was trying to post this earlier, but I was at my mother in law's place and it wouldn't let my pic come up clearly. So here it is, week one from Lisa Bearnson's book "50 Moments: Scrapbook The Pages That Matter The Most" I had quite a few ideas for this one, and I'm sure I will revisit them at one point down the road. That is what I love about this book, there are so many different ways you can scrap each of these subjects. For this page I decided to do it as a letter to my son Ethan (I plan on doing one for Caleb as well), of all awesome qualities of each close family member that I would like him to accuire.

I used the Quickutz 4x4 single pop up door and put a picture of each family member on the outside. The inside has the gift (what I wish Ethan to learn from each person).

I have no idea what patterned papers I used (I have a "supposed" 12x12 paper holder that I have to cut off the labels before I put them in otherwise they don't fit!) therefore, I don't know what they are! But I can tell you what Quickutz I used:

REV pop up door

Metro skinni minni

Central Park CC

Fiesta CC

Silhouette Shapes:

Vinyl art dandilion

2 different scallop borders

square bracket

heart

So there you go! You can also check out Kaylyn's Site for her version of week 1!

50 Moments

So I bought this book "50 Moments Scrapbook the Pages that Mean the Most" By Lisa Bearnson after I read a friend of mine's blog http://lifecreatingart.blogspot.com
She had just purchased this book as well and had decided to scrapbook all 50 subjects in the book. It really inspired me and after picking up the book I really wanted to do this as well! So I got in touch with her and we decided to do a weekly Challenge where we scrapbook each of the 50 subjects and post them up here for everyone to see. So every Wednesday, we will each be posting our interpretations of these subjects! I'm really excited and I think it's going to be a lot of fun! Stay tuned for the first one coming up this Wednesday. The subject is : Talents and Gifts

Week 3 of the Challenge, and some other exciting news!!

So here is my LO for week 3 of the Dixie Pieces challenge, The Textures of Summer. You can check it out at http://dixiepieces.com there's a lot of cool stuff going on over there!
I was really excited to do this layout, because I've been wanting to scrap these pics ever since we came back from Vancouver. They were taken at Crescent beach, and it was Ethan's first time at the ocean. He had soooo much fun that day, and I'm so excited that we're going back down to the coast in a week and a half so we can take him back there!
On another note... ONE OF MY LAYOUTS WAS ACCEPTED ON THE SILHOUETTE GALLERY!!! iI'm sooo excited!! Now I just have to figure out how to mail it!! lol

Okay, here's week 2 of the Sense-ational Summer challenge at dixie pieces. Week 2 was about the sights of summer. Our challenge technique this week was hand cutting, so I had cut a hose and used the Quickutz pop up flourishes as water. I cut some out with pp, and I also cut some with the Quickutz adhesive vellum. I used Diamond Glaze on all the flourishes to make them look wet. I also used Diamond glaze on the word "Play" which was cut out using QK Teriyaki. I also used QK Rockstar alpha, and Rainbow alpha.
The Journaling reads: "nothing says "summer" more than kids running, jumping, and being at play in the sprinkler."
TFL!

Mr. and Mrs. Grim Reaper

Well, here it is...I might've gotten it out of my system for now...maybe! However, this might've just spawned a craving to do even more Halloween pics! These pics were taken at my wedding reception...yes, I got married on Halloween, and it was AWESOME! lol This is my MC and his wife, good friends of ours who have since moved to the coast. I just LOVE the spiderweb background...cut out using my silhouette...of course! hehe I also used the new vine download and the dragonfly alphabet. The paper is Basic Grey, and I used some Prima flowers.
well, it's Waaaay past my bedtime, so good night all!
Cheers!

Fall is in the Air!

This weather we had today reminded me of fall, and I got soooo excited! I know the summer lovers out there are going to get mad at me for saying this (they do every year! lol) but I just can't wait for fall! I get a little nostalgic in the fall, and I love it! I'm doing these summer challenges for dixie pieces and all I can think of to scrapbook is all my halloween and fall pics from last year, and the year before (that I still haven't been finished...are we ever though?) So, I think tonight, I'm going to have to sit down, and get it out of my system before I get back to the summer layouts! So, stay tuned!

Scents of Summer!

here are some close ups of the stitching, and the journaling...in case anyone wanted to read it...

I did this page for a challenge at Dixie Pieces. It's called the "Big Bummer End of Summer SENSE-ational" Contest. There's 4 weekly challenges and they give you a color scheme, a certain technique you have to use, and a topic. This week's theme was the "scents of summer". So I scrapped a pic of my sister and my oldest son, Ethan, at our family cabin. I did a "top 10 scents of summer" journaling spot to list all of the things that remind me of summer. You can check out the challenge at http://dixiepieces.com/

The technique that we were supposed to use was stitching, so there had to be some sort of hand or machine stitching on our pages. This is the first time I've done any stitching on my pages, and I quite liked it! Although very time consuming, I believe I am going to be getting my sewing machine up and running in the very near future! I love doing challenges like this though, because it, well, challenges me to do things that aren't necessarily in my comfort zone, or things I wouldn't have thought to do before...color combos or what not...I'm looking forward to seeing what next week's challenge is! I'll keep ya posted!

PP: Cosmo Cricket, Crate Paper, and Fancy Pants. Cardstock: Bazzil. Die Cutting Machine: Quickutz Revolutions, and Silhouette: Rev: Cloud Border, Beads Border, Popsicle, Nesting circles, Alphabets: Gazebo, and Teriyaki. Silhouette: background "distressed notebook paper"Adhesive: Glue Dots, Sookwang tape, and EK success 3D-DotsButtons of unknown origin!

I already had the supplies list on the Dixie Pieces Gallery, so rather than writing it out again, I just did a copy paste thingy majig....in case anyone was wondering what kind of cool paper I used! Or what kind of cool die cuts I used! hehe okay, now I'm just being a dork...I think I'm sleep-tarded or something...I'm going to bed!

A 5 pounder!

My husband just came home like 10 minutes ago with this beauty of a rainbow trout! He is beaming from ear to ear! It's the biggest fish he's caught so far. He just got back into fishing this summer, and I'm so happy that he's got a hobby now. (now I don't feel so bad about all my scrapbooking expenses! lol although he has been dipping into that fund for his fishing lately! hehe I'm just kidding)
He is upstairs cleaning them as I write this (I am not such a dutiful wife that I clean the fish that he's brought home! I think I would throw up!) But I'll cook them for him later! I think we might smoke this one! It's way too big for the three of us to eat (Caleb isn't eating fish yet). So, we'll try out the mother in law's smoker ;)
I'm so proud of him! He caught 4 other fish tonight too! I guess I better get cookin'!
