Card Making Canadians Blog Hop!!

Good Morning and Happy Canada Day!! Today we're celebrating the creativity of Canadian Card Makers by having a fun little Hop! If you came here from Barb's Blog you're on the right track, but  if you just popped in here and want to start at the beginning, head over to Tara's Blog and get hopping!

Now we were supposed to do a card that was somewhat Canadian...these cards might not necessarily seem Canadian to you, but where I come from there is a world famous rodeo "The Williams Lake Stampede" and it's been going on for over 80 years now, and it's going on right now here in Willie's Puddle, so for me, this is pretty darn Canadian right here :)

These cards just so happen to be made from the Tim Holtz Wild West set, which is also the Stamp of the Month for July at Creative Accents!

The first card I made stamping the cowboy with Distress Markers. It was the first time I'd used them that way and I think I'm in love! It is soooo cool! I also stamped this image on Specialty Stamping paper by Ranger and holy smack that stuff is pretty sweet! After I stamped the image, I just took my ink blending foam with the corresponding colour on them and filled in the white space a bit to blend. I am so loving these markers! I love that you don't have to be perfect with your colouring...they're sooo forgiving!

I used a little bit of linen paper coloured with Distress stains (bundled sage) and the sentiment is printed on the linen paper too...loving this paper! (and it's only $1.00 a sheet at Creative Accents!) I found the sentiment idea by searching for western sentiments on Google and I found a site, (which I'm sorry to say I didn't think to keep the address) which had western cards on it. I thought this one was kinda funny...so I just used my Word program to print this one up.

The second card I stamped on Claudine Hellmuth Sticky Back Canvas after I stained it with Distress Stains. I stamped the Saloon with Black Archival ink, then I took my wonderful Distress Markers and shaded it in a bit.

This card was definitely one of those ones that taught me a lesson: "don't overthink things" It took me FOREVER to make this card...but really when I just stopped farting around and trying to make things work, it took me about 10 minutes to put it all together. From now on, I'm going to really try hard to think less, and create more :)

I used this sketch from Deconstructed Sketches for this last card.

Well there you go! Thanks for hopping by my blog!

prize alert!!!
Be sure to leave comments along the way on the hop because Tara will be randomly selecting one lucky winner from the hop to receive a $20.00 gift certificate to Creative Accents online store!! They also have flat rate $5.00 shipping in Canada and the US, so go check them out!!

Well I'm off (I'm actually camping again right now!)...I hope you all have a great Canada Day weekend and hopefully you manage to get some crafty time in too!!

Thanks for stopping by!! Now hop on over to the ever so talented Roxy's Blog and see what awesomeness she's got going on over there!

Ciao for now!
