Tara's Surprise Birthday Blog Hop!!

So the girls at Creative Accent's Seriously Creative Design Team and friends have decided to do a surprise blog hop for Tara's (the owner of Creative Accents) birthday today. You should've come here from the very talented Chris's blog. If you just wandered in here and want to join in on the hop, hop on over to the beginning at the fabulously creative Cheri's Blog.
So, we each made a card (or didn't like me, because I'm insane with my 3 little kids and a trip to Vancouver right now) I did start coloring an image, but that's as far as I think I'm going to get for now, so you'll have to stay tuned for the finished card...which may or may not get finished any time in the near future! But in any case, I still wanted to join the hop so I could say

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TARA!!! In my husband's family, when it's someone's birthday we all go around the table at dinner and say something nice about them...not because we have to, but because it's true! So Tara, here's my nice things to you: You are a very kind and generous person, you have a great laugh, and you are a very talented artist :) I hope you are having an awesome day and that someone gets you a yummy cake for your birthday!! Sorry I didn't have time to make a card for ya!!

So, now you can head on over to Teila's Blog and continue hopping!! Don't forget to finish of at Creative Accents Blog and leave a happy birthday message to Tara!!

Have a good one Tara!!

Halloween Party!!

It's starting to feel a little fall-ish around here these days, and it's making me feel a little nostalgic. I'm loving lighting my Cinnamon Bayberry candles and enjoying the crisp-ness in the air (I'm definately loving that we can breathe the air again and have our windows open without dying from smoke inhalation from the forest fires that surrounded us this summer too)! I'm a total sucker for fall, and Halloween is one of my favourite holidays, so when I can feel fall in the air, I get excited to break out the Halloween papers and start scrappin! I've had these pics kickin around for like 7 years! This party was the first time Chris and I met our friends Debbie and Derrick, and it was at their annual Hallween party. They go ALL OUT for Halloween and it was a kick ass party! The funniest thing about it was that we met Derrick while he was wearing his costume, which was a WereWolf (and he had glued the hair onto his face!) So after the party, we still didn't know what he really looked like!! I knew he worked at Save On, so the next time I went there I was looking around for someone who I thought might be him! lol It was pretty chuckly! Anyway, here's my layout...enjoy

Products Used: Patterned Paper: Imaginisce, Basic Grey (eerie), and Harmonie (Bal Masque), Tim Holtz sander (on pics), glimmer mist-tattered angels (on the Party letters), Die Cutting machine: Quickutz Alphabet: English Rose, unknown vellum (Halloween), Stickles (on spider web), Martha Stewart punch, close to my heart edge distresser, white gel pen, zig black pen, adhesive: score tape.

I hope you're all enjoying the coming fall season as much as I am! Btw, I won a draw at Creative Scrappers!! Totally made my night last night!! Then, tonight my husband called me from work, and he won a thousand bucks at work!! WOOT!! We have definately been blessed this week!!
On that note, have a great night everyone! Enjoy!

Serious Play

This page is for a guest DT Call at Sketchy Thursdays. I wandered into the sight last night after I had to come home early from my crop, and I saw the sketch on the sidebar, clicked on it, and I kinda got inspired to make a layout for them. Then I read that the call ended tonight at midnight eastern time, which meant 9 I think my time...So, even though I knew I'd pay for it, I decided to make this page. I started it at midnight! I finished at 2am! So, needless to say, I'm exhausted today, but I'm quite happy with this page! Here's my take on this sketch:

Here's what I used on this page: PP:cosmo cricket(joy ride), crate paper (static collection),We R Memory Keepers (Teen Angst collection), grey cardstock is of the unknown variety, black cardstock is core-dinations (love it!) I embossed the core-dinations with a tim holtz distress folder, I also embossed the title with the grey cardstock and painted the raised parts with MM blue paint. The title was cut with Quickutz Diesel font, I also used the Quickutz @ shape. I used my trusty tim holtz sander on the edges of the pics (it's kind of a kick I'm on it seems) and distressed the edges of my paper with my close to my heart distresser. I sprayed tattered angels glimmer mist in black magick and some kind of blue...electric blue maybe? The letter stickers are from a basic grey halloween kit.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it! I'll be sleeping early tonight!
Ciao!

Photo Shoot!

Well, I think I've resigned myself to the fact that, until my kids are older, going to crops isn't going to happen for a while...I think I'm just going to have to have people over at my house from now on. To elaborate: Our LSS had a designer's crop tonight and I had everything settled to go; older kids going to mom's house, baby coming with me to be put to sleep there. In theory it should've worked, however, Kieran (my youngest) decided that he didn't want to go to sleep until like 9:30 (he usually sleeps around 7, or 8 at the latest. Then I finally get my stuff out to work on my layout, and my mom calls me and my oldest is crying his head off and won't go to bed because he's over tired and wants his mom! Sooooo...I pack up my stuff...put it in the van...pack up the baby and go pick up the kids from my moms! Don't get me wrong, I still had a great time just hanging out with the girls, but it did feel like a bit of a waste of packing stuff anyway...since I literally cut a strip off a piece of paper, embossed it and sanded it...then went home. LOL I guess that's to be expected when you have little ones ;)
Oh well...Aaaanyway, I did manage to get some time to create last night. These pics where taken when I was just pregnant with Caleb. We were at our family cabin and I asked my mom to take some pics of Ethan and I. I love these pics so much because it's so rare that there are any pics of me and my boys... I have tons of Chris with the boys, because I'm usually the one taking the pictures...I usually have to ask someone to take pics of me with the kids, or family pics. Well, I think I'm rambling now...It's becoming quite late, so I'll just shut up and show you my layout! lol

Here's what I used: The cardstock is bazzil basics and so is the embroidery floss, pp is crate paper, brook collection, and october afternoon, thrift shop collection. I used a close to my heart edge distresser, distress inks (vintage photo color used on outter die cut label and peeled paint color used on the green cardstock, tim holtz sander (used to distress the edges of my pics), quickutz label die cut, and alphabet stickers are Lush, by MME.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog ;)

Creative Scrappers and Scrapfit Challenges

I've been really into sketches lately. I think I've already said that a few times, but it's true! I'm loving the creativity that flows with a sketch! Seeing one, and making it my own is a lot of fun! Creative Scrappers has some awesome sketches, and they come out with a new one once a week! I think I might be a few weeks behind, but this LO is my take on Sketch 116. I'm also entering it into Workout #26 at the Scrapfit Blog Their sponsor is the Little Black Dress Club Kit. Their challenge is to add some bling to your LO, Card, or Altered Item and since it's sponsored by Little Black Dress Club Kits, they want you to add something black to it! I barely got this challenge into the same sketch, but then I remembered that I added the black glimmer mist to my page! and my bligny flourishy thingy ;) I had fun with this page, but it was definately one of those projects that I needed to just walk away from! I kept looking at it and looking at it and adding something else and I finally had to make myself leave my desk! Anyway, I hope you like it!
Here's the deets: pp:My Mind's Eye So Sophie (again, I know!), October Afternoon Fly a Kite collection; Cardstock: Bazzil Basics, Bling: dollarama, Die Cuts: Quickutz special delivery gift set, and Spellbinders; Letter Stickers American Crafts, Ribbon, My Mind's Eye Bohemia collection, Stamps: Tim Holtz Stamper's Annonymous and Distress Inks, Tattered Angel's Glimmer Mist in Electric Blue and Black Magic, unknown fuzzy brad, American Crafts pop dots, and Zig Pen.
Thanks for taking a look!
